OUR STORY

A Family's Journey to Open a Mental Health Clinic in Honor of Their Daughter

BREAKING THE SILENCE

Our Beautiful Rose

The devastating loss of our beautiful daughter to addiction and mental health issues inspired us to open a clinic to help other families facing similar challenges. Her struggles with depression and anxiety, hidden behind a facade of success, ultimately led to her untimely death at the age of 20. In her honor, we are dedicated to raising awareness and providing support to individuals and families dealing with mental health issues through our clinic.

Being In A Good Mental State Can Keep You Healthy And Help Prevent Serious Health Conditions

As we closely examined our community, we observed a concerning trend of individuals struggling with sleep issues and being diagnosed with serious illnesses. Additionally, we noticed a resurgence in cigarette smoking/vaping, cutting/self-harm and drug use among our younger community members. A study highlighted the significant impact of positive psychological well-being in reducing the risks of various health conditions, while emphasizing the detrimental effects of poor mental health on physical health and behaviors. The correlation between depression and chronic illnesses, sleep disorders, and smoking/drug habits underscored the urgent need for mental health awareness and treatment initiatives in our community.

Impact of Mental Health on Physical Health

Poor mental health can lead to physical health issues and harmful behaviors like smoking, cutting/self-harm and drugs, while positive psychological well-being can reduce the risks of heart attacks, strokes, and other illnesses, highlighting the importance of mental well-being in overall health.

Relationship Between Depression and Chronic Illnesses

Depression is linked to chronic illnesses like diabetes, asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and arthritis. Individuals with mental health conditions are more likely to suffer from sleep disorders and have lower dopamine levels, which may contribute to using smoking or drugs as a coping mechanism.

Sleep Disorders and Smoking in Mental Health Conditions

People with mental health conditions are more likely to experience sleep disorders, with 50% to 80% of them having sleeping problems. Additionally, individuals with mental health conditions are more prone to smoking, and those who smoke tend to consume a greater number of cigarettes, possibly due to the temporary relief provided by nicotine triggering dopamine production.

Mindfulness & Stress Management

Long-term strategies are needed to increase positive feelings and overall well-being, as nicotine and other drug effects are short-lived and may not address underlying mental health issues effectively.
