Those with social anxiety disorder (SAD), previously known as social phobia, may fear being judged or scrutinized by others, or that they will act in a way that is embarrassing or humiliating. Symptoms of SAD may include blushing, trembling, sweating, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, nausea, dizziness, and difficulty making friends.  SAD can affect daily activities, such as work, school, shopping, using public restrooms, talking on the phone, and eating in public.
